SELF STORAGE INSTALLATION
A cleaner, more durable floor for self storage units.
This was a loose-laid Dura Tile installation in self storage units, with the tiles installed directly over the existing concrete floor.
One of the challenges with the concrete was the expansion joints running across the units. The flexible Dura Tiles provide a smooth surface over the joints while still allowing the concrete underneath to move naturally.
Dust is also an ongoing problem with concrete floors in storage units. The Dura Tiles keep stored items off the concrete and are easy to clean. They also provide a layer of protection against general wear, as well as accidental liquid or chemical spills.
The water- and slip-resistant surface is useful when customers are moving items in from outside, while the slightly softer PVC surface also gives some additional protection when heavier items are placed on the floor.
There is also some flexibility for the storage company. Because these tiles are loose laid, they can be installed when required and removed later if the company decides to offer PVC flooring as an optional extra.
With different tile colours available, the flooring can also be used to align with the storage company's branding, whether through a subtle use of brand colours or more prominent colour features within the facility.
It's a relatively simple upgrade, but it makes the units cleaner, easier to maintain and more professional, while helping protect the concrete floor underneath.
