HANGAR INSTALLATION

Durable flooring designed to handle the demands of a boat and aircraft hangar.

This Dura Tile installation was completed in a private hangar used to house both a boat and a small twin-seater aircraft.

The client chose a combination of grey, black and white 6.2 mm Dura Tiles, with the black tiles creating a central lane and the white tiles adding the lines and numbering.

The aircraft's smaller wheels meant that particular attention needed to be paid to the point loads and shear forces created when moving the aircraft across the floor. Adhesive was also used to provide additional stability and prevent movement under load.

The 333 × 333 mm tile format gave the flexibility to create the detailed floor layout, while the tiles' water resistance makes them well suited to the boat being brought in and out of the hangar.
